Jordan welcomes ceasefire agreement in Lebanon

Amman, Apr. 16 (Petra)-- Jordan on Thursday welcomed the announcement by U.S. President Donald Trump of a ceasefire in Lebanon, commending the significant and positive role played by Lebanese President General Joseph Aoun, the Lebanese government headed by Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, and Lower House Speaker Nabih Berri.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs affirmed Jordan’s firm support for the Lebanese state in asserting its authority and sovereignty over all its territory, ensuring that arms remain exclusively in the hands of the state, and reactivating its national institutions.
The ministry also expressed support for the reform measures undertaken by Lebanon and its efforts to safeguard the country’s resources, as well as preserve its security, unity, and territorial integrity.
